The "Final" Annual Phillip Cardillo
Memorial Ride
On Sunday April 19, 2015 the Blue Knights New York
Chapter X, the premier Law Enforcement
Motorcycle Club of Nassau County, held its 10th and last annual motorcycle ride in memory of
Patrolman
Philip Cardillo 28PCT who was shot and killed
in a Harlem Mosque on April 14, 1972 after
responding to a 10-13 assist Patrolman call to
this location. To this day no one has been
convicted of his murder.
2015 marked the 43rd anniversary of this
tragic event. As a result of our decade of
raising
awareness of the travesty & lack of justice
through the BKNYX annual rides, which annually
attracted over 400
law enforcement personnel on motorcycles, we
finally were successful in having the street in front of the new
Police Academy named in his honor, pictured
below.

RIDE HISTORY
The route started from the BKNYX Chapter
starting point at the Embassy Diner located on
Hempstead Turnpike, just west of the Seaford
Oyster Bay Expressway in Bethpage at 10AM, with
the assistance of the Nassau County Police
Department and the NYS
Troopers, and proceeded south on the Seaford Oyster
Bay Expressway to West on the Southern State
Parkway.
Stopping briefly at the NYS Trooper Barracks in
Valley Stream to pick up additional riders and an
NYPD Highway escort we departed from there at
about 10:30AM and proceeded North on the Cross
Island Pkwy to the West Bound L.I.E. exiting at Greenpoint Ave
with additional riders joining us on Greenpoint
Ave & Gale Ave which is the entrance to Calvary
Cemetery. Arriving at the cemetery at about
11:30am hundreds of riders proceeded to
Patrolman Phillip Cardillo's Grave for the
laying of a wreath, pictured below.
At around noon, the ride departed the cemetery and
proceeded on Greenpoint Ave to the West Bound
L.I.E, exiting at Van Dam Street proceeding on the lower roadway of the Queensborough
Bridge. Once in Manhattan the ride entered the
North bound
FDR from 62nd Street and exited at 96th Street,
proceeding North on 3rd Avenue making a left on 116th
Street past the Harlem Mosque and then North on 8th Avenue
to the 28PCT from where the ride ended.
We're grateful for Phil's service & to all those
that hold his memory close to their hearts! May
his family find comfort & joy in his memory &
may he RIP! FIDELIS AD MORTEM
